The One Thing for AI assistants

Your assistant can help with the list, too.

The One Thing includes a secure remote MCP server. Connect it once, choose the permissions you are comfortable with, and let your assistant capture and complete tasks alongside you.

Remote MCP endpoint https://mcp.theonethingapp.com

Connect in three steps

Secure by default.
Simple on purpose.

Any remote MCP client with OAuth support can connect. The exact button names vary by client, but the flow is the same.

  1. 01

    Add the server

Open your assistant’s MCP or connector settings and add https://mcp.theonethingapp.com as a remote server.

  2. 02

Sign in to The One Thing

Your browser opens a secure authorisation page. Sign in with the same account you use in the app.

  3. 03

    Choose access

Approve read access, write access or both. You can revoke the connection later.

What is my one thing today?
Calling list_tasksReading active tasks
Your first priority is “Send the proposal”. Want me to mark it complete when you are done?
Yes, it’s done.
Calling complete_taskTask completed

Less task admin

Use natural language. Keep control.

Ask your assistant to capture something before you forget it, tell you the current priority, review recent momentum or complete a task. Every action stays tied to your signed-in account and the permissions you approved.

  • “Add book the dentist to my list.”
  • “What should I focus on next?”
  • “How many tasks did I finish this week?”

Available tools

01

User-scoped dataEvery read and action is restricted to the signed-in user.

02

Explicit permissionsRead and write scopes are shown before you approve access.

03

Destructive actions labelledTask deletion is explicitly marked destructive for supporting clients.

04

Same product rulesFree-plan limits and Pro-only editing still apply through MCP.
